The harvest festival of Boro rice has started in the Fasli field of Erandah village in Nalka Union of Sirajganj, amidst the ongoing season. The official inauguration of the festival was organized by Janakalyan Club of Erandah North on Tuesday morning.
The chief guest at the rice harvest festival was Agriculturalist and co-vice president of Bangladesh Krishak League, Varendra Bahumukhi Unnayan Parishad (BMUP) Managing Board member, Alhaj Mo. Sakhaowat Hossen Sweet.
Other attendees at the harvest festival included Md. Abdur Rouf, Agricultural Officer of Raiganj Upazila, Md. Delwar Hossen, Extension Officer of Agriculture, Mo. Shamsul Alam, President of Janakalyan Club of Erandah North, Mo. Shahidul Islam, President of Nalka Union Krishak League, and Mo. Jahangir Alam, General Editor of the Farmer-Crop Committee.
Addressing the farmers at the rice harvest festival, the chief guest Agriculturalist Alhaj Mo. Sakhaowat Hossen Sweet stated that due to favorable weather and adequate use of fertilizers and pesticides, bumper production of Boro rice has been achieved in Raiganj this year. When the rice was harvested, it yielded 80 bags per bigha of land.
